ABSTRACT

Abstract:

Joint space and time signal processing has been regarded as an enabling technology for 3G and future wireless systems. In this seminar, we introduce adaptive antenna array and multi-user detection for DS-CDMA systems. We focus on their basic ideas, benefits, and comparisons of specific algorithms. In addition, we try to answer the following questions:

  1. What's the optimal mechanism for signal detection in a base transceiver station (BTS) equipped with multiple antennas? Is it some form of adaptive antenna array, or multi-user detection, or a joint?
  2. What are the candidate algorithms for 3G W-CDMA systems taking account for practical limitations? And what are the challenges in their real-world implementations?
