Dr. Howard Brunt and I are extremely happy to announce that Dr. Andrew M. Marton has accepted the appointment of Associate Academic Vice-President International for a five-year term effective August 1, 2012 to June 30, 2017.

Dr. Marton has a distinguished record of achievement as a researcher, teacher and administrator.  He is currently the Vice-Provost Teaching and Learning and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China.  He is a specialist in Chinese studies whose research has revolved around the study of patterns and processes of spatial economic transformation in China’s extended metropolitan regions with a particular focus on the lower Yangzi delta.  His other research interests in China include studies of administrative restructuring and urban and regional development, curricular reforms and geographical education, and the emergence of new urban spaces for the visual arts and other creative industries in Shanghai and Ningbo.

I am sure that you join us in welcoming Dr. Marton to his new role and wishing him well.

Sincerely,
