Queenswood property
December 6, 2011
The University of Victoria bought the Queenswood property in 2010 from the Sisters of St. Ann. After two open houses and an initial consultative process, UVic submitted a rezoning application to the District of Saanich in March 2011. After discussion and feedback, UVic continues to take additional time to consider its future use and rezoning of the Queenswood property.
This property was acquired for the long term and provides opportunities over the coming decades for UVic to support its academic mission in an environment that is within walking distance of the main campus.
The university is currently in the process of designing a new community consultative framework for capital project proposals and campus planning, and has retained the services of a consultant to develop this new approach. The new approach will be finalized in the new year and will then help inform the exchange of information and discussion with the community about the Queenswood property.
A dedicated Queenswood information website includes archival information from the open houses, details about the overall rezoning and initial consultative process, and the original draft zone parameters.
