Adaptive technology rooms
Rooms 113e and 113f on the main floor of McPherson Library have specialized equipment to support library users with print-based and learning disabilities. You do not need to book these rooms; they are available for everyone's use with priority for those who need the equipment.
Our adaptive technology rooms include:
- New computers with Windows 7
- Wide screen monitors
- Flat bed scanners for accessing and converting print in hard copy to digital format
- Kurzweil 3000 software for reading with text-to-speech and grammatical tools for writing
- ZoomText screen magnification software (network license)
- Kurzweil 1000 scan and read software to be used with the JAWS screen reader
- Inspiration 9.0 mind mapping software
- Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional for voice recognition and high quality USB headset microphones
- Network printing services from any computer
- Keyless access to the rooms, equipment and software
- Ongoing support of the machines from library staff (please ask for help at the loan desk if you need us)
