Allow others to access your library account
In exceptional circumstances, we will permit other people to sign out, renew items, or pay library fines on your behalf. We require your written consent to grant access to your account, in compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Designating a proxy
Faculty and staff may grant proxy borrowing privileges to university student workers or research assistants.
Users with a disability may also request a proxy borrower's card for a friend or attendant to borrow library materials on their behalf.
Proxy cards for non-students/staff will be determined on a case-by-case basis depending upon the applicant's circumstances.
Submit our online application form to authorize a proxy.
- Proxy borrowers may borrow materials on their sponsor's account.
- Email notifications are sent to the proxy sponsor.
- The expiry of the proxy privileges is determined by the requesting staff or faculty member.
- Proxy patrons are unable to recall books on your behalf.
- If you would like your proxy to place interlibrary loan requests on your behalf, contact our Interlibrary Loans department (250-721-8236, ill@uvic.ca)
