Classroom use

Special Collections welcomes the use of its classroom A003 and materials for both undergraduate and graduate classes and seminars. Faculty are advised to book the classroom well in advance to ensure the room is available for their class. We recommend booking at least one month prior to the class. More notice may be required when booking the classroom for the full term.
Please complete the online booking form to reserve the classroom.
Guidelines for classroom use
- Absolutely no food or drink is allowed in the seminar room when using material from our collections.
- Use of books/manuscripts is subject to the approval of Special Collections staff. Some items may not be suitable for classroom use due to preservation/conservation concerns.
- Small group teaching is advisable when using material from our collections (23 spaces maximum).
- We advise that you factor in time needed to set up and return materials to the reading room. Furniture may be rearranged to suit your class but must be returned to the original layout when you are finished with the room.
- You are responsible for ensuring that all material is handled correctly (avoid over handling). Please brief your students on the proper handling of our materials at the beginning of the class. SC staff will be happy to brief the class if you would prefer this option. Rules for handling our materials are posted on the tables in our reading room. These rules also apply to any classes given in A003 using Special Collections materials. Any questions about the following instructions can be directed to a staff member.
