The Encyclopedia of music in Canada is the best place to begin for an overview of most subjects, as well as for bibliographical references. Check the catalogue to find known books, scores, or recordings. For further assistance please ask at the music and audio desk.

Suggested subject headings

Below are examples of some useful subject headings for use in the catalogue:

Introductions, gerneral surveys, and histories

Directories

Listings of music organizations, ensembles, performance facilities, dealers, agents, publishers, awards, scholarships, festivals, etc.

Biographies

Bibliographies

Listings of books or articles about specific persons or topics.

Music recordings and publishing

Sources on the history of publishing, as well as listings of scores and recordings.
