Additionally, the Research Desk on the library's first floor is available to help you find the law, to provide instruction on library resources and to assist with legal writing and research. Some of the resources we provide help with are:
Study and writing tools
- Footnoting and bibliography programs like Zotero and Evernote.
- Current awareness, or notification applications such as Netletters.
- Backup services and FTP utilities.
Legal databases
- Lexis Nexis Quicklaw, WestlawCanada, CCH, Lancaster House, and CALI.
- Access to more than 70 other research databases.
Law Library and UVic Libraries catalogues:
- Summon which explore the UVic library catalogues, as well as many article databases.
- The UVic Libraries catalogue provides access to books, journals, electronic publications, videos and other material available through the Library.
- Course Reserve materials can be searched from the Library catalogue by course number, instructor or name.
- Email notifications are featured in the library’s catalogue. Use 'My Library Account' on the toolbar to check due dates, renew materials and the status of recalled materials.
