Provide an opportunity for advanced research in social dimensions of health. Focused specifically on interdisciplinary health research, the program links research opportunities based in research centres on campus with the academic mandates of the Faculties of Social Sciences, Humanities, Education and Human and Social Development to provide an innovative approach that cross-cuts disciplinary affiliations, provides an academic home for graduate students with interests in health research and allows faculty researchers affiliated with research centres to support and supervise graduate students.

Planned as an interdisciplinary, research-intensive, graduate program, the program incorporates community-based approaches, evidence-based modeling and training in research skills, knowledge and methodologies. It allows for maximum flexibility and supports a broad range of student research interests with an emphasis on relatively few required courses, participation in a colloquium series and a focus on independent graduate research. The primary outcome is a thesis at the master’s level.
