Humanities students meet benefactors

On March 1, 2016, over 90 members of the Faculty of Humanities community gathered to recognize the impact of donor-funded student awards. The evening brought donors of individual student awards together with this year's recipients, giving each a chance to learn more about each other. The event also celebrated what it means to support individual students in their pursuit of a degree in the Humanities, with Dean Cedric Littlewood and Tom Zsolnay, AVP of Alumni and Development, reinforcing the impact and legacy of this type of support in their speeches. Fourth year Pacific and Asian Studies student Nicola Craig Hora also gave a speech to share how scholarships created opportunities for her during her time at UVic. She ended her address with some touching words of thanks:

"And now here we are, at the end of my four years at UVic. This community has loved and nurtured me and I could not have grown this much without all of your contributions to this school. I am looking forward to the day when I will be sitting in your seat and listening to the amazing things that UVic students are continuing to accomplish everyday, on campus and beyond. Thank you for your kindness and I am happy knowing that this is not a goodbye but more, a see you again soon."
