Block quotes

Block quotes are used to highlight key quotes on a page. Use them for external endorsements in the form of testimonials and stories from students and faculty. Used sparingly, block quotes help draw the reader's interest to these endorsements on the page.

When to use block quotes

Block quotes are best used in these scenarios:

  • To highlight a key quote in a testimonial.
  • As a pull quote in a story or message.

Guidelines for using block quotes

  • Block quote content should be a single highlighted quote under 400 characters.
  • Use only one block quote per testimonial, story or message.
  • No more than three block quotes should appear on a page.
  • You don't need a source (author's name) if the content of the page is a single testimonial, story or message.
  • Name the source if the page content is more varied.
