Prior to joining the University of Victoria Faculty of Education, Rebekah Dueck worked as a professional pastry chef for the better half of her twenties. She has since pivoted to her love of teaching and volunteering in the Vancouver Island community. Dueck advocates for inclusive education for all students and is especially passionate about ASL-Inclusive Education. Dueck spends her free time volunteering with Vancouver Island ElderDogs which aids elderly citizens with canines, as well as Lifetime Networks Dynamic Duos where she partners with community members to assist individuals with diversabilities. Dueck also serves as a Special Education Inclusive Instructor, Mathematics Tutor, and After-School Care Support Worker.

The kids she has taught have described her as a “Shiny Sparkle” and “Flower Human” which she claims is easily her most significant accomplishment of all. Dueck currently serves on UVic’s Board of Governors and Senate, and the Education Student Association.
