About Mila
I was born and raised in Victoria, and as a teenager I moved to California with my family. After studying for a degree in science education, I worked at high schools and universities in California...but I always felt Victoria pulling me to return. Now I'm back in Canada, helping students to find their futures in engineering and computer science at UVic.
This is a fantastic place to learn and grow. It's not just the academic programs, the lovely campus or the supportive community--it's all of these things and much, much more. I wish that every student could be in an environment that inspires you to be your best, and helps you recharge when your batteries are running low.
My advice to future university students
No one expects you to have everything figured out when you get here. Engineering and computer science are fluid professions that can take you down a wide variety of career paths. What's important is getting a good, solid start to your education and being open to the opportunities in front of you.
