About David

Hi there! My name is David Busch. I am Nisga’a and Gitxsan as well as Scottish and German. I belong to the Eagle clan of the Nisga’a Nation. I was born and raised in Ladysmith B.C. and I’m the second youngest of six. I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

I took a gap year after high school to work and save money, before beginning my post-secondary education at Vancouver Island University. After graduation, I was fortunate to work for an Indigenous organization (The Nuuchahnulth Tribal Council) in Tofino, before moving to Victoria. I consider myself very lucky to have lived in some very beautiful places around Vancouver Island with my wife and young daughter.

As an Indigenous Student Recruitment Officer, I look forward to connecting with students, parents and communities, and helping you on your way to becoming a UVic student.

My advice to future university students

University is such a brief part of your life in the grand scheme of things...even though there may be times where it doesn’t feel that way. Make the most of it! Make new friends, join clubs and get outside your comfort zone, because that’s how you'll grow as a student and as a person.

Let's talk!

I'm here to answer any questions you have about UVic. We can connect over email, meet online using Zoom, or meet in person if you're planning a visit to our campus.
