Special access
If you don't qualify under other admission categories, we may still consider your application. The special access category is for students whose previous studies were impacted by health, disability, family circumstances or similar challenges. We'll consider how both your education and non-educational achievements indicate your ability to succeed at university.
Special access applicants must:
- be a first-time student at UVic
- be a BC resident
- be at least 23 years of age on the first day of classes
- meet all prerequisites for your intended faculty or program
If you have already attempted a full year (or equivalent) of university-level courses, you are not eligible for special access.
To apply
Use the standard undergraduate application process before submitting a special access request.
If your initial application is denied, submit an application package with:
- a personal letter describing the nature and extent of your circumstances and demonstrating the impact these circumstances have had on your educational achievements
- a resume including work experience since leaving school
- two references from people who are not related to you and can comment on your potential for academic success. References must be provided on forms provided by UVic.
