University Systems help centre
When you set up a NetLink ID or UVic email address, you are required to create a passphrase. If you forget your passphrase, you will be unable to access important UVic resources, such as My page, email, library accounts, and computing systems. Never share your passphrase with anyone, ever, for any reason. If you think your passphrase has been compromised, change your passphrase immediately by visiting www.uvic.ca/uvicid.
New requirements for passphrase
When you visit uvic.ca/uvicid to update your passphrase, you will be required to select a new passphrase which is between 12 and 128 characters in length. Your passphrase must only contain the following: lowercase letters, uppercase letters, digits, or common special characters (including spaces). For example: ! ” # $ % & ’ ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ? @ [ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~ \.
See the passphrase tips page for further information on creating more secure passwords.
The information security office recommends changing your passphrase on a regular basis. For more information, please visit University Systems Help Centre.
