Customize your calendar: Outlook 2010 and 2013

Once installed and configured with your Exchange account, Outlook 2010 or 2013 is ready to use with UVic's Exchange calendar. In this tutorial we will explore customizing how your calendar looks and functions.

  1. From the File tab, select Options to open the Outlook Options dialogue box.

  2. To configure calendar settings, select Calendar.

  3. From the Calendar section, you can change your work week information (which if helpful if you work weekends or evenings), determine the default handling of your meetings, and customize the calendar's basic appearance. You can also add holidays.

  4. The Default Reminder for all meetings is set for 15 minutes. You can either increase or decrease this time period if necessary, or deselect the Default Reminders box to disable reminder alerts. Note: The default reminder is an all-day event is 18 hours and cannot be configured. If you do not wish to receive reminders, ensure your turn off the reminder for each all-day event.
  5. Click on Free/Busy Options to open to the Calendar Properties dialogue box.

  6. On the Permission tab, you can add specific users and grant them elevated permissions for not only reading but also writing and editing your calendar. See Share calendar: Outlook 2010 and 2013 for more information.
