Exchange email and calendaring system upgrade

UVic's Microsoft Exchange system is being upgraded. The new version of Exchange offers an improved user experience for faculty and staff accounts.

  • Outlook on the Web brings a streamlined design to uvic.ca
  • more capabilities for editing, attaching, and sending Microsoft Office documents
  • consistent user experience between desktop and mobile
  • integrated Exchange calendar app in Microsoft Teams

University Systems will start upgrading email accounts on June 1, 2022. This migration process will run until August 2022 to reduce impact on faculty and staff. The migrations are scheduled outside of regular business hours.

 

What this means for your mailbox:

  • Before your account is migrated you will receive an email notification. You'll receive a confirmation email once the migration is complete.
  • Your Outlook applications may prompt you to restart. We recommend restarting your computer after a migration to refresh your email clients.
  • You may have to repeat this process if you use multiple Exchange accounts.
