University Systems, in conjunction with Purchasing and Accounting, has created the Technology Solutions Centre (TSC). The purpose of the TSC is to provide institutional technology acquisition assistance to faculty and staff. The TSC is the first point of contact for all institutional technology acquisitions and all orders will be processed via web requisition (WebReq).
Institutional technology acquisition assistance is offered in four key ways::
  1. Faculty and staff can contact the TSC to receive advice and guidance regarding technology purchases. The TSC staff can assess requirements and make technology recommendations.
  2. The TSC will route purchase requests received via WebReq to the most appropriate supplier for fulfillment. This includes recommended standards for PC hardware as obtained through RFP 417 as well as Apple hardware supplied by the UVic Bookstore. Faculty and staff wishing to acquire standard or non-standard technology should contact the TSC.
  3. The TSC will perform Technical Reviews as per Purchasing Services Policy (FM5105). This process change automates technical approvals thereby increasing our acquisition efficiency.
  4. Institutional equipment in need of repair can be processed by the TSC. The TSC is an extension of the University Systems Service Centre, which includes the Computer Help Desk and the Departmental Computing Support Team (DCST).
