Apple computers and equipment must now be purchased directly from Apple

Apple has changed the way that educational institutions purchase Apple computers and equipment.  Purchases of Apple computers and equipment must now be made directly from Apple using a special online store.

In response to this new requirement from Apple, University Systems and Purchasing Services have developed a new process to facilitate purchases of Apple computers and equipment at educational pricing.

This new process is documented on the University Systems website; these instructions will walk you through the process of building a quote for Apple products and submitting this information to Purchasing Services for fulfillment using a WebReq.

Recommended Apple computers are published by the Technology Solutions Centre.  These packages have passed Technical Review and are designed to maximize compatibility with other campus systems such as classroom audiovisual technology.

Note: Institutional Acquisition and Standardization of Information Technology Devices (AD2515) and Purchasing Services Policy (FM5105) still apply; units that are mandated to use standards must justify a request for deviation from standards in order to order a Mac.

If you have any questions about this process or would like assistance in acquiring Apple computers on campus, please contact the Technology Solutions Centre at tsc@uvic.ca or 250-853-3572.
