Centre for Athletics, Recreation and Special Abilities (CARSA)

UVic's state-of-the-art athletics and recreation facility and new home for CanAssist opened its doors May 1, 2015 as a centre for active and healthy living, and to support student athletes to train and compete at the highest levels.

UVic's Centre for Athletics, Recreation and Special Abilities (CARSA) opened on May 1, 2015 as the new home of Vikes Athletics and Recreation. The facilty, which began development in 2012 with a public consultation process, provides world-class training and learning facilities for all community members, with access to athletics and recreation resources as well as specific services and research programs.

Located along Gabriola Road near the McKinnon Building, the new centre houses the UVic Vikes athletics and recreation programs, as well as offices, labs and a machine shop for UVic's CanAssist, with customized technologies, programs and services for people living with disabilities.

CARSA is an inclusive, one-of-a-kind facility. It is the new home of champions, a resource for the wider community and a place where aspirations can be transformed into achievements.
