About

Hello!  My name is Lydia Foch.  I have been recently appointed as the Catholic Spiritual Care Provider for UVic.  Having taught Religious Education for 23 years, I am committed to developing opportunities for students to meet God where they are at by listening respectively to each other’s stories.  My hope is to implement events which promote an inclusive community of support and friendship offering a place for students to feel at home.

Ontario is my home of residence.  Previously I lived in Victoria over the span of 12 years.  Off the island, I was a ski instructor in Whistler and a dive instructor in the Caribbean.  On the island, I studied education at UVic, while raising my daughter and working as a dental hygienist.  I have travelled the world extensively and lived and worked overseas.

While travelling, I learned about many religious traditions. Later in my career, I studied theology which deepened my faith and relationship with God. I love the outdoors which include biking, sailing, swimming, skiing, boating and kayaking to name a few. I have a sense for adventure in living the ‘road less travelled’.

Enough about me, I would like to meet you.  I am available on campus Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Please feel free to email me to set up a time to meet over coffee, have phone conversations or visit one another via zoom.  I look forward to being of service to those I encounter and journeying your university years with you.
