About

As the Special Advisor for Student Wellness, I am pleased to oversee two very important student supports for our campus.

Prior to becoming the special advisor, I was the director of Counselling and Multifaith. I worked as a registered psychologist at UVic Counselling for 12 years. I did individual and group counselling and co-ordinated the practicum program.

I am first generation Canadian and have lived and worked for the majority of my life on the beautiful lands of the Coast Salish and lək̓ʷəŋən people

My pronouns are she and her.

Research & development

My research involvement in the field of Canadian post-secondary student mental health contributed to the development of "Post-Secondary Student Mental Health: Guide to a Systemic Approach."

This framework informed the development of our first University of Victoria Student Mental Health Strategy, launched October 2014 and scheduled for an update, coming soon.

From this foundation, I have continued to implement leading practices for our student Counselling and have developed UVic Multifaith, both fundamental to our campus-wide strategy for student mental health and well-being in order to facilitate optimal learning.
