Dichotic Listening Test

Two forms of the task are available, one assesses the lateralization of language perception and the other assesses the lateralization of auditory perception. In this competing stimuli format, lateralization is inferred based on ear advantage.

(1) Dichotic Listening - Words (S. Hayden and F. Spellacy, 1978)

One syllable word stimuli are presented with half of each stimulus set selectively channelled to each ear. Stimuli are organized into 22 sets (trials) each consisting of six word pairs. Word pairs are presented simultaneously to both ears in rapid succession. Accurate reproduction of words presented selectively to each ear are compared to determine ear advantage.

A complete test package includes: cassette tape of word stimuli, sheet of instructions and 20 recording sheets.

Additional Instruction Sheets $5
Additional Recording Sheets (set of 20) $20
Additional Cassette Tapes (each) $25
Complete test $50

(2) Dichotic Listening - Music (F. Spellacy, 1970)

Two second excepts of violin arrangments are presented simultaneously to both ears. Accuracy of recall is tested after each trial by the presentation of a recognition foil. The subject is to indicate if the foil is the 'same' or 'different' as the preceding dichotic stimuli. Forty-six trials are presented in total. A complete test package includes: cassette tape of music stimuli, sheet of instructions and 20 recording sheets.

Additional Recording Sheets (set of 20) $20
