Abubakr completed his PhD from Michigan State University’s Department of Agriculture, Food & Resource Economics in 2022. He is an applied microeconomist whose research focuses on violence, conflict and crime. During his PhD, Abubakr worked on the link between air pollution and crime, and the effect of conflict on socioeconomic outcomes. His current research at University of Victoria focuses on the indigenous economics and economic history, with a particular focus on agriculture.
