Dry ice

We recieve bi-weekly deliveries of dry ice (Monday and Thursday around 10:30 am) that’s stored in a grey cooler outside Petch 168.

Dry ice is available on a self-serve basis and all the necessary handling equipment is located by the coolers. Please remember to weigh what you take and write your details down on the Science Stores sheet.

Please contact us if you require large amounts of dry ice so that we can order extra.

Safety

Dry ice is very cold (-78°C) so it should always be handled with care. Wear insulated gloves, which are provided at the dry ice location. 

The dry ice is delivered in rather large blocks so you should break off smaller pieces using the chisel and hammer provided. Always wear eye protection when doing this.
