Modeling cancer risks

Knowing who is more likely to develop common cancers such as breast, lung, prostate brain, and stomach cancers allows us to monitor them to detect these cancers at an early stage so that they can be cured. We are developing models based on personal and family history of cancers, life style factors, environmental and occupational exposures and other known risk factors so that people who are more likely to develop a given type of cancer can be identified and monitored.

This work is carried out in conjunction with the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior (CSI), based in Kelowna.
