Muskaan Danish Ali wins student presentation award at SSC 2026; Yasaman Shahhosseini receives honourable mention

Congratulations to Muskaan Danish Ali, a UVic Science Undergraduate Research Award (SURA) student in Mathematics and Statistics, for winning the best presentation award at the 2026 Statistical Society of Canada Annual Meeting, held at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Muskaan ’s presentation, based on the paper “Analysis of the Spatial Distribution of the Long-Memory Parameter from the WU-Minn Human Connectome Project Young Adult Dataset,” competed in a student research presentation competition that included graduate students, making this an especially impressive achievement. Muskaan is supervised by Michelle Miranda.

At the same event, Yasaman, a PhD in Math & Stats co-supervised by Michelle Miranda and Farouk Nathoo, received an honourable mention.
