Research description:

My research interests include the effects of murder on the siblings of young murder victims, and the socioemotional development of infants, children, and youth more generally. My doctoral research investigated the role of joint attention in the social/emotional development of deaf toddlers with hearing mothers. I am also interested in the relationship between self-esteem and perseverance in high performing adolescent ballet dancers. I have also conducted research in how people cope with and make sense of major life events, transitions, and trauma including palliative diagnoses and brain injury. I have received additional training as a Compassion Fatigue Specialist and have a strong interest in compassion fatigue in the helping professions and what factors relate to its manifestation and amelioration.
