About Kate

Kate Vallance is a research associate at the Centre for Addictions Research of BC. She is responsible for coordination of the Centre’s Alcohol and Other Drug Monitoring Project and is also involved in a number of other ongoing studies. She completed her Master of Arts degree in Sociology at the University of Victoria in 2009.

Prior to her work at CARBC, Kate was a Site Coordinator for the UVic hub of the Women’s Health Research Network and also worked for the Victoria Cool Aid Society at the Sandy Merriman House Women’s Emergency Shelter in downtown Victoria. Her research interests include harm reduction strategies, emergency department monitoring, alcohol and other drug use among marginalized populations as well as other substance use issues.
