Changemakers SUMMIT on campus – Sept 19

CAPI is proud to support the Pacific Peoples’ Partnership and their upcoming One Wave Festival on Sept 19th and 20th. The Pacific Peoples’ Partnership is Canada’s only non-profit, social justice organization dedicated to the South Pacific. For nearly 40 years, they have supported the aspirations of South Pacific islanders for peace, justice, health and environmental sustainability.

Changemakers SUMMIT 2.0: Puppets, Performance and Social Change

When: September 19, 2014

Time:  01:00 PM - 03:30 PM

Location: UVic Cadboro Commons, Queenswood and Arbutus Rooms

Part of the One Wave Festival, the Pacific Peoples’ Partnership presents Changemakers SUMMIT 2.0 in partnership withPuppets for Peace and CAPI. The event will include an artists’ panel and conversations with local groups tackling Pacific issues including human rights and environmental stewardship. Moussa Magassa (moderator and UVic Human Rights Education Advisor), Sutrisno Hartana, Rosy Hartman, Wendy Passmore-Godfrey and Jeremy Bally will explore the role of the arts in social transformation.

The event will also feature a puppet-making activity in collaboration with Puppets for Peace, a puppet festival and celebration of the UN International Day of Peace happening in Victoria September 19–21.

Free pizza lunch and refreshments are included.

One Wave Festival – Pacific Arts and Culture Festival

When: September 20, 2014

Time: 02:00 PM - 06:00 PM

Location: Centennial Square

Free community celebration of the arts and culture of the Pacific – enjoy an afternoon of live music, spoken work and dance from the South and North Pacific regions.
