Learn to Meditate

Meditation is a simple spiritual practice that helps in:

  • Reducing Stress
  • Developing inner stillness
  • Increasing self awareness
  • Opening the heart and mind to Divine Presence

The meditation style uses a simple mantra (prayer word) meditation. At each session there is time for instruction, practice and questions. Everyone is welcome. Drop in once, or make this a regular part of your university experience. This is a free service to the campus community through UVic Multifaith Services.

  • increase self-awareness;
  • imporve creativity;
  • learn letting go;
  • strengthen concentration;
  • foster mindfulness;
  • open to being.

We will learn a simple mantra (word) meditation to let go of mind noise and promote inner stillness.  At each session, there is time for instruction, practice and questions.  No previous experience necessary.  Drop in once, or make this a regular part of your university experience.

Lenten Quiet Day

Join us for a renewing day of quiet meditation with chanting in the style of Taize, lectio divina, labyrinth walking meditation, and resting in the solitude of the Finnerty Garden.

Refreshments and simple soup and bread lunch will be provided.

Offered by the United Church Campus Ministry in association with the Contemplative Society.

Parking: Flat rate of $3.00 for Saturdays.

Wednesday Noon Meditation for Staff, Faculty and Students

For staff, faculty and students
Wednesdays | 12:15pm - 12:50pm | UVic Interfaith Chapel

We practice a simple mantra meditation to:

  • still the mind;
  • reduce stress;
  • nurture inner awareness;
  • foster mindfulness;
  • become open to peace and wellbeing.

We start with a basic meditation instruction at 12:15pm followed by a 20minute breath meditation at 12:25pm.  We are done by 12:50pm. Led by Henri Lock, United Chaplain.

Free and open to all, staff, faculty and students. Drop-in, come when you can.
