Teaching Award in Medical Sciences

The purpose of this award is to recognize and reward excellence in teaching and education by those who have appointments in the Division of Medical Sciences at UVic.

Nominees are UVic Faculty (full time or affiliate) who have completed at least two consecutive years of teaching at the Island Medical Program or the Division of Medical Sciences. The award is adjudicated by the TAMS Selection Committee.

The nomination deadline is April 30.

2019 Teaching Award in Medical Sciences Recipient

Congratulations to Dr. Samantha Stasiuk, recipient of the Oscar G. Casiro Teaching Award in Medical Sciences (TAMS) for 2019.

The TAMS, which is adjudicated by a committee, recognizes a full-time or affiliate faculty member who has taught at the Division of Medical Sciences or the Island Medical Program for at least two consecutive years. The committee selected Dr. Stasiuk as this year’s recipient based on her exemplary teaching and outstanding support for student learning.

Students and colleagues describe her as an exemplary teacher who demonstrates an engaging and supportive approach to group facilitation, making it an ideal learning environment for students.

“I am both delighted and honoured to be a recipient of this award,” she says. “I feel so privileged to work with such a lovely group of learners, faculty and staff.”
