Course reserves

To find all Law Library reserve materials, log in to course reserves (Ares).

If a course you're currently registered in does not appear in the list, there are no reserve materials currently available for that course.

  • The Law Library is responsible for reserve materials assigned for law courses

For faculty: guidelines for placing materials on reserve

Update: In response to COVID-19, only electronic resources can be put on reserve reading at this time. Library staff can scan book chapters and journal articles from the library collection for faculty to use in reserve courses.

Instructors may submit electronic or hard copy items to the appropriate Libraries’ Reserve Service for processing via web form, email, or in person.

All requests submitted for reserve must comply with the UVic's Fair Dealing Policy.  To ensure compliance, please provide full citation information for each item as it is required for all articles, books, book chapters, web pages, PDFs and links.

Submitted course materials requiring copyright permissions will be forwarded to the UVic Copyright Office for clearance. Permissions may take 6-8 weeks to obtain and related costs or fees will be charged to the department or faculty requesting copyright clearance.  For further information contact the Copyright Office.
