Gain practical data skills that support Open Science through short, interactive lessons taught online by UVic librarians.

Open Science (also known as Open Scholarship) is a broad movement to make research across disciplines more transparent, accessible, and collaborative. It’s about more than just making knowledge accessible. It’s about transforming how that knowledge is produced.

  • Time: 12–12:30 p.m.

  • Open Science 101: Discover practical skills that empower you to contribute meaningfully to Open Science. Make your work more accessible, equitable, and impactful.
  • Organizing Files and Folders: Learn how to keep your files tidy and easy to navigate.
  • Citizen Science: Explore how everyday people can actively contribute to scientific research.
  • Data Privacy 101: Start building responsible research habits. Learn the basics of working with sensitive data.
  • Pre-Registering Your Study: Learn how and why pre-registering your study with Open Science Framework registries increases the transparency and the credibility of your research.
  • Using ORCiDs: Help yourself and others properly receive credit for work (including data). Streamline connections across various platforms.
  • Finding Open Data: Explore methods for locating and utilizing open datasets.
