The conference organizing committee is excited to let you know that registration for the Educational Developers’ Caucus Conference (EDC) 2018 Educational Developers Gaining an Edge, from February 14 to 16, 2018 at the University of Victoria in beautiful Victoria, BC is now open. The early bird rates are open from now until January 14th, 2018. For conference fees and bursary information, please see below.

The EDC Conference and Institute Bursary Fund is intended to support new professionals without professional development funds. We invite all early career educational developers (up to 3 years experience) who do not have professional development funds to apply to the EDC bursary fund to receive financial assistance to attend the conference.

The amount of each bursary will be up to a maximum of the cost of conference and pre-conference fees. The exact amount of the bursary will depend on the number of successful applications.

To apply to the fund:

Download and complete the application form – see below. Email your application to Natasha Hannon, EDC Vice-Chair, Awards and Recognition by December 15th 2017 for the EDC Conference.

Requisite criteria: applicant does not have access to other Professional Development funds.

Priority criteria (if there are more applications than bursaries available):

1.            Previous recipient of the bursary – priority will be given to those who have not previously received a bursary.

2.            Impact of bursary on applicant’s career and personal development (judged by applicant’s statement).

3.            Applicant’s contribution to the conference or institute – priority will be given to those presenting or who are a volunteer from the host site.

4.            Institutional and regional representation – priority will be given to those from institutional or regional areas that are less represented.

Bursary Procedure

1.            Apply and receive confirmation of the bursary.

2.            Recipients of the EDC Conference or Institute Bursary are required to pay the conference fee at the time of registration.

3.            In order to be reimbursed, each recipient must complete an expense claim form. Enter “EDC Conference Registration” as the item on the expense form along with the registration amount, and attach the e-receipt that you received at the time of registration.

4.            Email the completed form and attached e-receipt to Natasha Hannon (Vice-Chair, Awards and Recognition).

5.            The cheque will be mailed to the address you provide on the expenses form.

A number of executive meetings will be held before or during the conference dates. Please see below for information about each of these meetings. Please take not that f you are attending any conference sessions, you are required to register for the conference. 

STLHE Board Meeting

The STLHE Board will be meeting from 8:30 am – 4: 30 pm on Tuesday, February 13th. The meeting will be held at the University of Victoria in HHB128.

EDC Executive Meeting

The EDC Executive meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 14th  from 9:30 am – 12:30 p.m. in HHB120 at the University of Victoria.

Teaching and Learning Centre Leaders Meeting

The Teaching and Learning Centre Leaders are invited to meet on Wednesday, February 14th  from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm in HSDA250. This meeting stems out of an EDC action group of Centre Heads and Directors who were seeking additional opportunities to network and connect with other Centre Heads and Directors to share their successes and discuss strategies for addressing some of the common (and often complex) obstacles and challenges we face in our roles.

VP Teaching and Learning Meeting

The VP Teaching and Learning Meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 14th. Delegates attending the VP Teaching and Learning meeting will be having lunch 12:00 pm – 1:15 pm (Salal Room, University Club). Following lunch, the meeting will be held in the same location from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm.
