Rhianna Nagel

Rhianna Nagel
Community-Engaged Learning Coordinator
Office: Cornett B132

Rhianna Nagel has been involved with Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) locally and globally as a student, community partner and university staff member. Through those experiences, she has developed a great appreciation for the contributions that CEL can make to student learning outcomes, community initiatives, classroom dynamics, and community-university relations. She is therefore very pleased to coordinate CEL at UVic and enjoys her work with students, faculty, staff and community members. She comes to the LTSI from the Faculty of Social Sciences, where she also coordinated CEL. Rhianna received a BsC from the Land and Food Systems program at UBC and an MA from the Community-Based Research lab in Geography at UVic. She had the privilege of working with fabulous mentors at the former UVic Institute for Studies and Innovation in Community-University Engagement. She spent years living between Uruguay and Canada farming and working with community groups on diverse initiatives, generally related to social and ecological well-being. She enjoys camping and going on canoeing adventures with her husband, son and two daughters. And she’s always up for dancing, swimming or playing a board game (especially Boggle and other such word games). She is Chair of the Board of LifeCycles, a local organization that cultivates community health by connecting people with the food they eat and the land it comes from.
