Law bursary application

The 2017-18 Fall/Spring Faculty of Law Bursary Application is now open. Applications are due on June 30, 2017. All supporting documentation (i.e. pay stubs, mortgage statements, student loan notices of assessment) is due on August 15, 2017.

Law bursary policy: General principles and criteria for use in determining financial need.

If you are newly admitted and your admission acceptance deadline is after the law bursary deadline, you will receive a personal bursary deadline.

A fair bursary process depends on accurate information. Be candid and forthcoming in completing this application. To knowingly provide false or misleading information is a serious breach of your ethical obligations and may disentitle you for bursary assistance as well as take resources away from students with genuine financial need.

Instructions

The Faculty of Law's online bursary application for the Fall/Winter 2017-18 academic year is posted in May.

Apply for your maximum eligible government student loans before submitting your bursary application. We will need your student loan notification of assessment or funding summary to complete your application.

Read the application carefully and provide all the information requested. Use projected figures where necessary. If there is some information you do not have, state why you do not have it. If your application is incomplete, you may not be eligible for a bursary.

Application checklist

  • Bursary application
  • A copy of your government student loan notification of assessment (or funding summary)
  • A pay statement for a typical pay period (for students employed during the pre-study period)
  • Mortgage documents (for students who own homes)
  • Amount of last year's income tax refund
  • Current amount of GST rebate (quarterly and annual)

Supporting documents can be mailed, e-mailed, or dropped off in person to the financial aid officer.
