Job Posting: Coordinator, Black Law Student Professional Support Program
The Black Law Student Professional Support (BLSPS) Program’s goal is to expand and enhance educational support and professional development resources for Black law students at UVic Faculty of Law. Objectives include enhancing learning, promoting wellness and improving Black student retention in the legal profession.
- The Faculty of Law is seeking a part-time coordinator to provide support in the following:
- Supporting and organizing coaching, mentorship, professional development and networking events that will support Black law students.
- Organizing educational seminars and presentations that will support Black law student success at Law school.
Liaising and partnering with on- and off-campus clubs, organizations, and businesses to organize, host, and promote initiatives relevant to Black law students.
This work would be a combination of in person and online. The expectation for the number of hours to be worked in the academic year would be approximately 10 hours a week. The hourly rate of pay would be $40/hour.

Knowledge of racialized student experience and in particular Black student experience is a requirement. An understanding of the legal environment would be an asset.
Appointments would take the form of a non-unionized appointment for the academic year, with the possibility of reappointment in future years.
