Christopher Jones was called to the Bar by the Law Society of British Columbia in March 1996. Chris attended Dalhousie University Law School and was a Clerk at the Federal Court of Canada from 1993 to 1995. Chris was an associate at Arvay Finlay in Victoria from 1997 to 2005, when he joined the Ministry of the Attorney General. Chris was appointed senior legal counsel in 2012. He has taught Oil and Gas Law and Regulatory Law at the Universities of Victoria and British Columbia, respectively, and in 2013 was appointed an adjunct professor at UVic.

In both private practice and with government, a focus of Chris’s practice has been energy and environmental law, and he has been involved in several significant matters in those areas. For example, Chris is counsel for British Columbia in the Northern Gateway Pipeline proceedings, and provided advice in the development of the Clean Energy Act.
