Dr. Elena Pnevmonidou is Director/Advisor of the European Studies program and an associate professor in the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies.  Her research focuses on the intersection between romantic aesthetic theory and romantic conceptualizations of the "other", be it the other gender or the cultural other, such as the Orient. I have recently been carving out a second research area in the 20th century German literature through a forthcoming publication in representations of the body in the writings of Bertolt Brecht and Frnaz Kafka.
