Grief & Loss Support Group

The death of a loved one can be overwhelming. Loss is a universal event, yet grief is an individual experience. The purpose of this group is to explore the role grief plays in our healing process.

Through the sharing of experiences in a caring, supportive and respectful environment, this group will explore issues related to adjusting to a life without that person. Our goal is to betterunderstand our individual experience of grief by learning how others cope with painful times.

Erica Gies is an independent journalist & National GeographicExplorer whose free public talk is titled "Water Always Wins: Working with Nature in an Age of Drought, Fire & Flood". She is the 2023 Southam Lecturer for the Deptof Writing.

Want to make a world-of-difference for yourself and others on campus and beyond and be part of the solution for social disconnection, and loneliness oncampus? There are thousands of students at UVic and beyond who do not make use of formal counselling; and often have unmet needs on how to connect with others.

This program is for anyone who wants to become more adept at authentic conversation, learn for themselves and be better equipped and reaching out toothers.

The program provides student trainers the skills, tools, questions and techniques to quickly engage or respond to students, faculty, staff or anyone on campus. We'd love to have you join ourteam.

Christopher Bowers' specialty is teaching people how to talk and to engage authentically. He has written a book, "Hi! Conversation Change Lives" and presented a TED talk on this subject
