Commas, Colons, and Semicolons Workshop

Spruce up your punctuation toolkit by reviewing twelve rules for properly placing commas, colons, and semicolons. Participants will practice correcting comma splices and run-on sentences using self-editing strategies to achieve greater clarity and flow in their academic writing. Contact Emily at for information. English Conversation Café

The Academic Critical Communication in English Seminar Series (ACCESS/English Café) is an opportunity for all UVic students with English as an additional language to improve their ability to readand communicate in English within an academic context. Participants will practice reading, listening, and discussion skills in a relaxed atmosphere, receive coaching on vocabulary use andpronunciation, and get tips for developing confidence with reading and speaking. Attendance is limited to 12 students per session. No registration necessary

Meet and Greet with Amicus Tutors

AMICUS Program

On Wednesday, October 5 th, we will have a Meet and Greet session with the Amicus Tutors who have just recently begun their work. This will be Room 152 from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. and will be an opportunity for theTutors to introduce themselves and for you to chat with them about the services. It will begin in a large group format and after that there will be opportunities to meet and mingle with the Tutors.

This fall we will also be having four Study Skills Sessions and LLP Course Review and Drop-in Sessions to prepare for the exams in this course.

We also offer both individual and study group tutoring, and if you are interested in this please contact Tim Richards at
