Exposing the dispossession of Japanese Canadians in the 1940s

Hear UVic historian Jordan Stanger-Ross describe how Japanese Canadians lost their homes, farms, businesses and possessions when they were interned and incarcerated during the 1940s and how the Landscapes of Injustice research project is uncovering this difficult history. After his presentation, explore a pop-up museum of innovative audio and visual displays and exhibits with researchers working on the project and community members who were interned. Discover why and how this dispossession occurred, who benefitted from it, and how it has been remembered and forgotten in subsequent decades.
