Academic and Technical Writing Program Welcomes New Director

The Academic and Technical Writing Program is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Accardi, Professor of English at College of DuPage, as the new Program Director, effective August 2026. Dr. Accardi specializes in rhetoric and writing. He holds a Ph.D. from Arizona State University, where he served as Assistant Writing Program Administrator. Prior to joining the College of DuPage, he was an Assistant Professor of English at Penn State Hazleton, teaching courses in rhetorical theory and discourse analysis while conducting research on first-year writing and community engagement.

At the College of DuPage, Dr. Accardi chairs the award-winning Writing Studies program and has led significant curricular initiatives, including the development of the Professional Writing Certificate. He also serves on the executive board of the Council of Writing Program Administrators.

As Program Director, Dr. Accardi will provide leadership and advance the goals of the ATWP. The program looks forward to working with Dr. Accardi as we continue to grow and foster excellence in academic and technical writing at UVic and in the wider rhetoric and writing community.
