Advances in Public Health Informatics: The Impact of New Media

The lecture will provide an overview of the field of Public Health Informatics and explore the impact of new media such as social media and mobile health applications on public health practice.  

Dr. Mowafa Househ is an Associate Professor and former Research Director at the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, National Guard Health Affairs, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Victoria, School of Information Science. Dr. Househ’s primary research interests are around the use of information and communication technologies to empower patients, specifically focusing on the use Social Media and Mobile Technologies in the promotion of public health practice.
