Course description

Wondering how the buzz word *generational differences* impacts you, no matter your role at UVic?

Whether you are a manager, supervisor, or team member, understanding the diversity of challenges that each generation faces will support you in maximizing potential in our multi-generational work places.

This session will introduce you to some of the research on how these generational differences form, as well as invite you to define and identify with the characteristics and values commonly attributed to each generation. Participants will be provided with insights on how to best meet these challenges and will learn to develop strategies to maximize performance and employee satisfaction in their workplaces and in team environments.

Facilitator: April McNeil, MA, is a career educator working with students, staff, faculty and alumni to support them in exploring and achieving their career goals.  April has designed and facilitated four conference workshops and published one article on multi-generational workplaces. She also works as a consultant for the not-for-profit sector on generational differences and diversity and human rights in Canada.  April looks forward to sharing her extensive knowledge of creating positive multi-generational teams and learning environments with you.
