NEW Office Ergonomics Videos

We are excited to announce that we are launching a new online Office Ergonomics course in Brightspace!

Our traditional classroom based Office Ergonomics training session is now available in video format.  Employees will be able to view the course in it’s entirety, or pick and choose any of the 13 different modules.  Some of the exciting topics include: ergonomics risk factors, workstation setup (keyboard, mouse, desk, monitor, lighting), mobile computing, working from home, sit-stand desk, and stretches.  This course can be taken at your convenience, and is a perfect complement to our other online resources such as the Office Ergonomics Self-Inspection Checklist, Potential Solutions, Office Stretches, and Work from Home guide.

In addition, we will continue to offer a number of other online ergonomics courses that can we accessed on our website:

  • Ergonomics e-learning for Office Workers: This program was developed by the Institute for Work & Health (IWH) in partnership with Public Services Health & Safety Association (PSHSA), Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and U.S.-based Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety.  It is an evidence-based and standard-compliant online training program designed for employees who regularly use computers on the job.
  • Manual Handling Ergonomics: University Food Services: Employees that work in a non-office environment and are required to move or handle objects on the job can learn about ergonomic risks and safe manual handing techniques.  Although the examples used are from the kitchen environment, this course is appropriate for anyone performing manual handling on campus.
  • Laboratory Ergonomics: Laboratory researchers are at risk for ergonomics injuries during routine lab procedures such as pipetting and using microscopes.  This course will help prevent injuries by reviewing simple ergonomic recommendations specific to the lab environment.

Please feel free to check out this new course as well as the other ergonomics resources.
