April 27, 2026

David Almeida will present at Health Research Day
David Almeida is the plenary speaker at Health Research Day

The Faculty of Health and the Institute on Aging and Lifelong Health are holding an annual health research symposium on May 1.

More than 30 presenters from faculties across UVic will explore the conference theme, advancing health through community, culture and change at Sngequ House | Sŋéqə ʔéʔləŋ, on campus.

David Almeida, a professor from Penn State University, will give a plenary talk about the surprising science of daily stress and healthy aging. With more than 30 presentations on issues including mental health interventions and art-based therapies; culture, identity and Indigenous health; substance use, harm reduction and policy; and aging and basic sciences, there is much to learn and love about this year's Health Research Day program

The sold-out event marks the Faculty of Health's one-year anniversary, with students, faculty and community members and industry partners in health taking part.
