Joanna Tong is Executive Director, External Relations of the Gustavson School of Business. A strategic thinker and a people connector, Joanna leads the school’s external relations team in the areas of marketing & communications, development, supporters and business engagement, alumni relations, and events. Joanna is the primary contact for the Gustavson international advisory board and the local and international business community.

Prior to joining Gustavson, Joanna was leading the £2 billion campaign for the University of Cambridge with a specific focus on East and Southeast Asia regions. When she was Director of Advancement in the Faculty of Health Sciences, she played a key role in completing the 50th anniversary campaign at Simon Fraser University that raised a record $275 million. Before that, she was Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Leicester and Director of Development and Marketing at Town Hall and Symphony Hall in the UK. Joanna’s presentations at CASE and AFP conferences in the UK and Canada were very well attended.

Passionate about sharing insights and exchanging ideas, Joanna writes articles and books bringing the 5000 year old Chinese philosophy to leadership development. With a thought-provoking and humorous speaking style, Joanna Tong was frequently invited by HSBC, Birmingham Metropolitan University and the Department of Trade and Industry, UK to give presentation at business events and award ceremonies.

In her spare time, she runs half-marathons (very slowly), plays piano (rather badly) and writes fantasy fictions (a novice).
