Dr. Boukhtouta is an Expert Level Defence Scientist with Defence Research and Development Canada’s (DRDC) Centre for Operational Research and Analysis (CORA). He earned his PhD from Laval University’s Department of Operations and Decision Support and his MSc from Sherbrooke University’s Department of Civil Engineering. He holds a bachelor degree in civil engineering from Annaba University in Algeria. His fields of expertise are Logistics and Supply chain management, routing and scheduling problems, Stochastic Dynamic Programming, Analytics and decision support systems. He taught at Laval University (Quebec) Operational Research, probability and statistics courses.
He led different projects Canada’s Department of National Defense (DND) and he is a Subject Matter Expert providing advice to senior decision makers on Logistics and Supply Chain management. He is a part of various international research and development programs involving industry and different government organizations. He was also involved in different partnership projects involving DND, academia, and industry. He was an Adjunct Professor at Concordia University’s Institute for Information Systems Engineering (CIISE) from 2006 to 2012. He chaired Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Scholarships and Fellowships Selection Committee on information technology.
He is the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, including the DRDC Performance Award (2019), The Technical Cooperation Program Distinguished Service Award (2018), The Best presentation award for the 6th International Symposium on Computational and Business Intelligence (ISCBI) held in Basel, Switzerland (2018), and the best poster award for the International Conference on Analytics Driven Solutions (ICAS), held in Ottawa, Canada (2014).
He was invited to give key note talks and to be part of panel sessions about Logistics Decision Support and he co-authored a book and published several journal papers and book chapters in his fields of expertise.
